Every company, no matter how big or small has a dead end job position. Before we continue you must realize that everybody starts at the bottom , unless you have a super duper degree or some tight connections. If you don't have those things, most likely you will have to start at bottom. If you would like to have a future with this company and climb that corporate ladder from cubicle to office, here are some tips to get you out of the darkness into the spotlight.


Step 1

Come to work on time and ready to work with a positive, can do attitude! Leave your personal problems at the door. You want to be notice but not as the floor' s grouch.

Step 2

Keep your hair, facial hair (if any), nails and self clean and neat. Shower, cut your nails and present yourself as a clean person. It will make you more approachable and likeable.

Step 3


Dress for success! no matter how lame and low the position is, dress like you own the place. A lot of dead end positions allow their employees to dress casual. I believe casual dress puts out casual attitude. Think of how you feel in sweat pants and how you feel in business wear, total different you. Show the boss you mean business and are dress for it.

Step 4

Take your lunch hour and breaks at your designated time and come back when you are supposed to. Stay away from chatting during working time, you are wasting the employers time and depending on your job position wasting their customers time and that means money. Nobody likes to lose money.

Step 5


Keep your work area clean, it shows organization skills and it will help you stay motivated. Take pride in your job and your work no matter what it is, it will make you feel better and it will show others in a positive way. Be a leader, not a follower.

Step 6

Don't gossip, tell tasteless jokes or steal company supplies. Be respectful of others and don't get involved in water cooler drama or get into clicks. Work hard, be honest, be clean and you will stand out to those that count.
