How to Quit the Job You Hate

By : Tiffany Lamb

Almost everyone has been in a position where they hated their job. When you have a job that you hate, you can very easily end up spending most of your time and money on trying to reduce the amount of stress that your job gives you. You find yourself enduring the difficulties of your job because of the fear of losing your income, and ultimately losing your life. That doesn't have to be the case. You can change your job to change your future, as scary as that idea may be to you. With a little bit of courage and a bit of research you truly can find a job that helps you reach your life goals and gives you a sense of peace that will make you enjoy going to work. You only need to have the will power and inner strength to trust yourself enough to fight for what you deserve.

Step 1

Sit down with a piece of paper, or on your computer, and make a list of what you would like to do. Think about how you want your job to make you feel, what you'd like to do as a job description, what dreams you would like to follow, what qualifications you have that fit in with what you'd like to do as a career.

Step 2

Once you have figured out potential jobs you'd like to consider switching to, you can then begin your search. Start by looking at the classified section or your local newspapers. Do searches on the internet as well on job sites such as Craigslist.com, Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com. You need to figure out how high the demand for your job is, what you can do different from all the other people who have this job, and what steps you need to take to get yourself into that position. Take note of each job listing you find that you would like to pursue.

Step 3

Once you have figured out what it is you want to do, and what steps you need to take to get there then you need to turn up the motivation because that was the easy part. You need to have the faith in yourself to follow your dreams and get what you want and deserve. Begin writing your new resume. You might need to write down qualifications and skills specific to the new career avenue you are going to take. Since you have most likely been dreaming about this new job for a while it should be an easy task to fill your new resume up with all the details that will appeal to your new employer, especially your special skills and hobbies.

Step 4

Once you have the resume made out print a few copies of it. Get that list you made up of all your potential employers and start making calls to set up appointments. Dress the part, bring your resume, bring your self confidence and your faith. Be proud of the fact that you have stepped outside of your safety zone and you are finally pursuing your dreams. Visualize yourself working at that new job and see yourself happy. Putting the energy into it and visualizing yourself where you want to be if about half the battle. You can manifest your desires.

Step 5

When you get your new job you are going to have a huge weight lifted off your back. You will feel like you are free and like you can breathe again. You did it, you got out there and changed your destiny. Now you have to be responsible and put in your two weeks notice at your old job. Be nice, don't burn any bridges, as much as you might want to. Offer to find your replacement if you will have the time and heart to do so. Thank them for the opportunity they gave you and appreciate the fact they gave you a chance to earn money until you were ready to follow your dreams. Even though you might hate your job, it has been supporting you and that is a blessing in itself.
