Interview Tips For Question - Tell Me About Yourself

By : Ngo Vinet

1. Preparation tips for Tell-me-about-yourself:

The biggest mistake as a candidate may occur when you prepare for your interview. You should guess the interview questions and prepare for them, maybe by practicing with your friends or speaking alone in a private room. Be sure that your answers are brief and the time for answering each question is not more than 3 minutes.

2. Keep your information brief and related:

Just try answering in short sentences and try to provide much information to the interviewers in as least time as possible.

3. Eliminate irrelevant and unnecessary information:

The interviewers are unable to remember all the information you provide. As a result, if you provide too much irrelevant information, they will not get your idea and may make wrong evaluation about you.

Just remember, eliminate irrelevant information as much as possible.

4. Records:

When you talk about yourself, prepare records/references for anything you say. For example, if the job requires skills of business planning, you can give them a record of what you have done. With many records relating to the job, they will be perfect evidence proving your suitability to the job. On the contrary, if you provide information without any relevant reference or record, it will become equivocal and unreliable.

5. Do not provide too much information:

Give too much information will cost your interviewing time. Also, if the information is irrelevant to the job, it may reveal your weak points.

6. Do not make up information:

Your information will be recorded by the recruiter for a long time, and the recruiter may have many ways to check whether the information you provide are correct or not. Therefore, you should provide the most faithful information as possible in the interview.
